Challenge Addressed

A Level Three emergency triggered a rapid influx of South Sudanese refugees into Kenya’s Kakuma Refugee Camp, requiring the establishment of a fully functional operational base within a three-month timeframe to support emergency fundraising and program delivery.

Approach and Contribution

As part of the emergency start-up team deployed onsite, I led the development of local financial standard operating procedures aligned with organizational policy. I established banking and cash management systems, set up secure filing and reporting structures, and supported supplier identification through field-based market assessments conducted in collaboration with procurement. These systems were implemented under highly constrained conditions, including limited infrastructure, funding, and secure office space.
